Examinations and diplomas
More students than ever require
an internationally recognised qualification in English
to help them access the world of higher education.
Courses to prepare you for this qualification can
be taken in most of the English Language Schools
around the country. The preparation courses for
the examinations vary in length and intensity to
suit different student needs. Courses have fixed
starting dates and they finish on the date you give
the exam at the examination centre.
University of Cambridge Examination (UCLES):
These world-renowned examinations are offered at
different ability levels. The rigorous preparation
programme lead you through all the varied language
and examination skills you need to succeed. Simulating
examination conditions and work through sample questions
to give you the best preparation possible. These
study programmes are a blend of specific examination
work and general language study.
English for University and Further Education:
This course develops your communication, reading,
writing, listening, note-taking, study management
and examination skills. Skills required for academic
study in a university or college and aim to maximise
your score in the examinations required for university
entrance: IELTS or TOEFL, depending on your academic
aims.
IELTS Preparation: Courses at various
levels and each gives a thorough preparation for
the International English Language Testing System.
An IELTS score measures your language level for
entry to an English-speaking university, particularly
in the UK and Europe.
TOEFL Preparation: A TOEFL score
is a recognised measure of your English language
level, needed when you apply to an American college
or university.
London Chamber of Commerce and Industry:
English for Business and Commerce courses concentrate
on developing language skills that you need in a
business and commercial environment—correspondence,
meetings and presentations, negotiating and socialising.
The courses uses authentic material, task based
project work and role plays.
English for Commerce; English for Business; Spoken
English for Industry and Commerce (SEFIC).
